Neon Revolution

We’re as big a fan of their nail polish as we are of their tongue-in-cheek names. How does OPI come up with those witty finds? We picture a team of funky gals, lounging with  lots of champagne and unlimited chocolate supplies. And yes, then one thing will lead to another…
The upcoming limited edition mini-pack is quite a revolution. A Neon Revolution. This fashion season screams for colour and if a full colour outfit is too much for you, there is always a well manicured hand in neon yellow. Or Pink. Or:

Nars & Pierre Hardy = happy feet

We like nail polish and we like shoes. We like Nars and we like Pierre Hardy. We like summer and we like presents.
Is there anything else we could wish for? No, because this is exactly what the newest must have in beauty land is all about: a collaboration between the French shoe designer and the make up brand brought in the most adorable manner.
The collection consists of six different limited editions that carry names like Boys don’t Cry, Easy Walking and Ethno Run, and they come in pairs, like yellow and lavender, or orange and navy (inspired by Hardy’s Spring 2013 shoe collection).
But the best part is that they come in little miniature shoe boxes with a dust bag, just like Hardy’s shoes. Isn’t that the cutest thing? Yes, it is. We told you we like presents. [EH]

Beauty by Miss Lipgloss

 

Cynthia Schultz is one of the first Dutch beauty bloggers and is always a few steps ahead. No wonder, since she started blogging when she was 16. Those were the days, uhu.
Yesterday, 5 years later, she launched her first book on Beauty at the Amsterdam Andaz Hotel. The book reveals her insights on beauty with tips & tricks from a pro and is so very Cynthia. Open and honest, always with a wink and a smile. I think format and paper (matt!) are quite important and this one is easy to browse through. Curled up on the couch with herbal tea and goij berries at hand.
My favourites subject? How to make the perfect brow or blend a flawless foundation. It’s all in there! [KB]

Friday Film: Prada Candy

It’s Friday, and what better way to start a wonderful weekend than with some cinematographic inspiration? In their new short film, Prada seduces us with two attractive men (Peter Gadiot and Rodolphe Pauly), one pretty girl (Lea Seydoux) and multiple beautiful Parisian scenes.
The movie was made to promote their new scent, Prada Candy L’Eau, and they hired Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola to do so. The result is a three minute dream of composition, style and color, and has only one effect: we want to go to Paris, nów.
(And we don’t mind smelling nicely while we’re at it). [EH]

Beauty and health @ home

Beauty treatments at home? A new trend which is here to stay. Lifestyle and trendwatcher Adjiedj Bakas showed us some insights on illness prevention and e-health. We all want that. A recent study show that the past couple of years, we started spending more and more money on electronic measuring devices and other health & beauty products to use at home.
Bakas was invited by German health and well-being company Beurer during their launch of the collaboration with Elle in a pop-up store in Amsterdam.
They created an extensive beauty improvement collection together. My favourite could become the FCE80, an ultrasound device to use at home with ensures a noticeably firmer and smoother skin. Yes, please. Or will it be the special warmer for your sore muscles after a long day of working behind the Mac? We’re talking HK54 here.

Net-a-make-up

We already loved them for their stylish fashion items and jewellery, and now Net-a-Porter is throwing in some facial dress up as well: the luxury fashion e-tailer has announced that it will start selling beauty products for the first time.
The new addition is called Quintessential Edit, and from today on beauty fans will be able to buy a select edit of products from 11 brands including Natura Bissé, Aesop, Philip B. and James Read. They start small, but plans are already in the making for a bigger phased rollout. With sales rising to a bumper 444 million euro last year, a new business engagement was only to be expected and odds are there will only be bigger numbers at the end of 2013. What can we say: girls will be girls. [EH]

A new body for Burberry

She is one of the hottest models on the block, and that means K-Ching for this little lady: Cara Delevingne is the face – or better – the body for the new Burberry “Body Tender” campaign.
She is already the face of the ready-to-wear collections and regularly marches down the catwalks for the British brand, but now she has fronted her first fragrance campaign. The British model of the moment is the poster girl for the luxury brand’s latest addition to the Burberry Body Collection of scents, Tender, and one look at the photo and it’s clear why she is the absolute darling of the model world: Mario Testino took a photo of Cara while she is lying on a yacht wearing a classic trench coat with the Houses of Parliament in the backdrop.
Soft, sexy and stunning: being British never looked this classy. [EH]

Just Cavalli

If spring wasn’t already in the air, it sure is now: Italian fashion house Cavalli has just released their new female fragrance Just Cavalli with a steamy, sexy, playfull campaign.
In the video we see a very hot, young couple going after each other through the urban jungles of Berlin, London and Paris, and just when they are about to absolutely devour each other, we see what the frolicking is all about: Just Cavalli, the new perfume.
And off course, Cavalli wouldn’t be Cavalli if they had not casted the sexiest couple on earth for this video: socialite Georgia May Jagger and Brazilian male model Marlon Teixeira. That’s sex on legs, pretty much, and it’s not like we expected anything less from the Italian fashion house. What it smells like? Think orange tree, think Tahitian Tiare flower, think creamy palissander wood scent. Spring, exactly. We say: bring it on! [EH]

Mmmm… it’s Marni.

Good news to all of you out there that have a zest for anything eccentric: fashion house Marni has released its first fragrance line. It is labelled simply Marni, the logo depicting the same label you’ll find inside the collar of any of the quirky garments from the ready to wear ranges.
It is said to be a rather grown-up scent with spices such as cinnamon, black rose and pink peppercorn. “We wanted the fragrance to be timeless, not seasonal,” Carolina Castiglioni said, the daughter of founder and creative director Consuelo Castigliono.
“And we also wanted it to be unmistakably Marni, so we took a clean, simple shape for the bottle, then we added the polka dots, because they are our signature.”
To add some coolness they launched the fragrance in the capital of cool, Berlin, but for now the perfume will only be available in Harrods London.
Well, we needed an excuse to go anyway. [EH]
