Movie time! Givenchy, Chanel & almost David B.

It is finally Friday and that means Fun Videos for your Flunch Break! (Oh, how I love alliteration, even if it’s not done correctly). This time we present you with the latest video from Givenchy, who is bolstering its new Le Rouge campaign with arty graphic film. Pump up the volume and recharge with Givenchy.

And what about a little Marilyn Monroe inspiration while slowly getting into that weekend mood? In an interview in 1960, Miss Monroe gave her famous quote that she wore nothing but a few drops of Chanel No. 5 to bed. Chanel uncovered the recording of the interview and used it to make the fascinating Chanel No.5 Marilyn video

And last but not least, we suggest you put a big fat cross in your agenda on February 6th, because that’s when H&M will release a video featuring David Beckham playing action hero for his latest bodywear campaign. Yes, ma’am. The video is directed by none other than Guy Ritchie and sees the footballer running through the perfectly manicured streets of Beverly Hills dressed only in his boxer briefs.
Aaaaand… Back to work, ladies. [EH]

American Runway Revolution

This documentury I definitely wanna see. And so do you if you’re into fashion history and even a little bit of politics. Here’s the story: in 1973, the famous Palace of Versailles is the host of a fashion face off between five American designers and five French couturiers. The event is staged by Eleanor Lambert, creator of Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed List. She invited designers as Halston, Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass, Anne Klein and Stephen Burrows to represent the United States.
The French team included Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Pierre Cardin and Emanuel Ungaro. This event had a profound impact on the fashion and modelling industry, Paris being the arrogant leader of the pack and America taking their positions as underdogs very seriously. To stun the world, the Americans made the – for that time groundbreaking – decision to cast black models only. “To actually have an exhibition with 12 Afro-American models at one time, in one show, in a palace in France, representing the United States and our fashion industry, was legendary,” said film director Riley Draper. ‘It was historical.” This documentary features interviews with the likes of Pat Cleveland, Grace Mirabella and several fashion historians, and will premiere during New York Fashion Week in September. Another reason for a trip overseas. [EH]

Givenchy SS12

Sometimes, all you have to do is sat back, relax and drool. That’s exactly what we did while watching the new Givenchy SS12 campaign starring Giselle Bundchen, Chris Moore, Simone Nobili and Ricardo Tisci muse MariaCarla Boscono. The campaign was shot at the beach in Barcelona by hot photographer duo Mert & Marcus, and my o my… Can someone bring us that beau-ti-ful soft pink blush suit? Or that amazingly sequined turqois look-at-me dress? Thank you.

Dahlia Noir – Givenchy

From goodiebag gift (thank you, Jackie Magazine) to bathroom favourite: the new perfume by Givenchy is here to stay. We love the fresh but mysterious smell. Think floral structure with a tint of pink pepper, rose and patchouli. Add some notes of sandalwood, and then you get… Dahlia Noir.

Designer News, We Love

Paris Fashion Week

You would't say by looking at our Paris Fashion Week favourites, but this last week revolved around... white! White, white and more white will dominate the streets during SS12. We have nothing against white, let that be clear. But there is a thin line between a nurses uniform and a couture piece these days.
This is what we would love to wear from The French Big Five:

1. Evening (beach!) skirt in paisley pattern silk, big black belt and camisole wrap by Yves Saint Laurent

2. First we need the legs of Gisèle, then we would like the outfit: silky khaki blouse-and-shorts combo paired with a sequined blazer by Givenchy. Watch out, Shark Necklace Alert!

3. A white skirt (yes) contrasts a minimalistic graphical leather top. All by Celine. We love the colours.

4. Party time @ Chanel. Cocktail dress in lavender with 3-D heart on the heart.

5. Less is so much more. Sleek outfit by Hermès. Great neckline.
