Viktor & Rolf: where the magic happens

They are without a doubt Hollands best export product when it comes to fashion, and boy are we proud of ‘m: designers Rolf Snoeren and Viktor Horsting, alias Viktor & Rolf.
With everyone who has ever reached something extraordinary, we are super super curious to find out where the magic exactly happens. Where do these men come up with their ideas for the ready to wear collections, for their famous fashion presentations, their collaborations, or even for their fragrances?
It’s a question Vogue must have asked themselves too, because they came up with the wonderful idea of photographing them in their Amsterdam based office. In this seventeenth century grachtenpand (canalhouse), formerly owned by a mayor, you can see their true inspiration: books, sketches, mantelpieces, porcelain dolls, the garden and their dogs Little Swan and Vickie. Cute! [EH]

Vogue’s FNO Amsterdam #1

Our first Fashion Night Out is around the corner… On thursday september, 13 it’s all about Fashion with a capital F in Amsterdam. Both in Amsterdam-South (PC Hoofstraat area) and in the centre (Bijenkorf department store) you will find luxury shops open till 22.00 hrs. They will host in-store parties (*plop*) and present special editions.
Fashion’s Night Out is an initiative which started in 2009 by Vogue-US-Editor Anna Wintour. Designed to get us all out shopping at a time when the economy was struggling. It soon became a global shopping event and since we now have our very own Dutch Vogue, we also have our very first Dutch Vogue FNO.

Department store De Bijenkorf has fashion events planned on every floor. Meet ‘n Greet with Dutch Designers (take a cover shoot with Viktor & Rolf!) or go for a signed issue of fashion illustrator Piet Paris latest book. Thanks for the invite @Vogue, we’ll be around. [KB]

Viktor & Rolf & Bugaboo

Dutch designer duo Viktor & Rolf has announced the birth of their new must have item, and it’s something exclusively designed for the new kids in town: a perambulator, better known as a buggy. It's their latest collaboration with Dutch brand Bugaboo. Ànd it's a Bugaboo (RED) product, so part of the proceeds will be contributed to The Global Fund to help eliminate HIV in Africa.

The limited edition is called My first Car – aaawww - is made of mono-colour grey fabric and is equipped with rear silver alloy wheels featuring the iconic Viktor & Rolf emblem. Yep, some hot wheels indeed for your mini-me, so now there really is no excuse for not being a fashionable mommy. Unless you can’t deal with the fact that you can actually buy a real car (ok, a small one) for the same amount of money: 1500 euro. On the other hand: what better way to start your kids journey of life than with uncle Viktor and uncle Rolfs approval? Exactly. [EH]
