Every quarter, Lyst publishes a report about the online shopping behavior of more than five million shoppers. This report includes an analysis of data from Google searches, sales and other important markers such as brand and product call outs on social media and global engagement statistics. We have listed the highlights of last quarter for you.
For Q1, the popular streetwear brand Off-White was named as most popular brand of the moment, but according to the latest data, Gucci has reclaimed its number 1 spot as the most popular brand for Q2. This is due to a revenue growth of 20%. The rise in popularity of both Gucci and Off-White shows that Millenials and Gen Z are generations to keep an eye on.
Balenciaga, Valentino, Prada and Fendi all keep their place in the top 10. Balenciaga was the fastest growing brand in couture and leather goods. Prada joined the anti-fur movement and had a sales increase for the first time in 4 years (!). Versace did a collaboration with Serena Williams and Fendi organized a memorial in honor of Karl Lagerfeld.
In terms of designer items, the Jitney 1.4 "Cash Inside" bag from Off-White scores best and is therefore voted the most popular item of this quarter. The bag that was inspired by the Hampton Jitney bus line was sold out to several retailers within a few days. Chloé’s C mini shoulder bag was quickly named the new IT bag and therefore ends in third place. The fifth place is entered by "The Pouch" from Bottega Veneta. The minimalist clutch, designed by creative director Daniel Lee, quickly took over Instagram and has received more than 10,000 views every month since its launch. With the acquisition of Lee, Bottega Veneta has become one of the most talked-about fashion brands of the year. Therefore, it's no suprise that they climbed 8 places in the rankings this quarter.
