The heydays of Coco Chanel are back, with this reinterpretation of the famous 2.55 bag, called the Chanel Reissue 2.55 Nude Flap bag. The original was introduced by Gabrielle Chanel in the 1955 (hence its name) and has been an inspiration for designers ever since. For example, creative director Karl Lagerfeld celebrated the 50th anniversary of the 2.55 with the Reissue, which was adorned with the original Mademoiselle lock and chain. It seem he has now once again drawn inspiration from the founder of the French fashion house, with this very understatedly chic Chanel bag.
2.55 vs. Classic Flap bag
Lagerfeld's most recent design is a true homage to Gabrielle's 2.55, with its clean lines, simple turn-lock and the typical Mademoiselle lock. Mademoiselle Chanel's original design did not feature the now famous CC-lock and interwoven chain straps. Both elements are an invention of Karl Lagerfeld when he re-introduced the Chanel bag in the eighties. Want to know more about the differences between the 2.55 and the Classic Flap bag?

The new line of bags is made from a very soft type of leather, which over time develops a gorgeous patina, so each bag will have a unique look. Furthermore, the bottom of the bag is made from burgunde leather and adorned with a delicate chain, which reminds us of the chain that lines the iconic Chanel Tweed jackets.
