6 Commandments for a better closet

22 April 2016

1. Give every item a home
When you want to create the perfect wardrobe it's important to give each item its own space in your closet. This way it will alway be super tidy and it also comes with two bonuses: you're able to find the item you want to wear that day easily and when you can't find it, you know it may be time for a clean-out.

2. Schedule a regular closet purge
Try getting in the habit of having regular closet purges. Doing this regularly will make sure that you won't lose space to items that you never wear. You can do this quarterly or annually. You can find tips on how to detox your wardrobe here or read all about our 5 closet cleaning hacks.

3. Give yourself a reward for getting rid of old clothes
When you've finally sorted out your clothes and threw some of the old stuff out, reward yourself for the extra effort. Sell your old clothes on our platform and buy that one piece that you had your eye on for a long time.

4. Stock up on the necessary supplies
An extra shelf or a closet organizer can do more than you would think. Take inventory of what you have and get the neccessary organization tools to create the perfect closet.

5. Don't discredit the makeshift closet
Not having much space for your wardrobe does not mean you cannot create a dream closet. A makeshift closet can even be a lot chicer than the name suggests. Get inspired by several DIY ideas on Pinterest and get creative to get more wardrobe space.

6. Choose your closet cleaning method
Now that you’ve organized, purged, and redesigned your way to your dream closet, it's important to keep it that way. Choose the closet cleaning method that fits you best whether that is the 'ribbon method' or the 'out-of-sight-out-of-mind method' to give you an idea of what you are actually wearing.
