January 25th we celebrate Chinese New Year. Last year, Gucci dedicated a piglet collection to the Chinese Year of the Pig. This year Gucci launches another collection to celebrate the Chinese New Year. This time a Mickey Mouse collection to celebrate the year of the rat.
Gucci x Mickey Mouse-collection
The collection consists of various ready-to-wear clothing, shoes and accessories for both men and women, mixing the Italian fashion house’s signature prints with the retro images of the famous cartoon character. In addition, Gucci introduces a new material: mini GG Supreme canvas, a beige and black fabric with a vintage Mini GG pattern with a relief Mickey Mouse design.
Playful campaign shoot
The masterminded campaign, devised by creative director Alessandro Michele, was shot in Disneyland. For this campaign Gucci teamed up with photographer and director Harmony Korine, who shot colorful images with Disney's most famous attractions as scenery, such as Alice's spinning teacups in Wonderland's The Mad Hatter and Sleeping Beauty's castle. The campaign features well-known names, including actor Earl Cave, Chinese actress Ni Ni and designer and poët Zoë Blue.
It's not the first time Disney's famous mouse is featured in a Gucci collection. The famous cartoon character was also part of the spring/number 2019 collection and the resort 2020 collection of Gucci.
Gucci's Mickey Mouse collection will be for sale from the 3rd of January, both online and in selected Gucci boutiques worldwide.
