Designer bags are no longer cheaper in the United Kingdom

24 January 2017

Great Britain voted to leave the European Union on the 23rd of April last year. As a result the Pound Sterling immediately fell down to a historical low. Consequently this also had a significant effect on the prices of designer items in the United Kingdom. While this was good news for all the shoppers, the fashion houses were considerably damaged by this economic effect.

Nothing good is made to last
Ofcourse, the designer brands quickly responded to the Brexit effect. To offset their losses they needed to raise the prices of their accessories and clothes. For example, the Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandouliere 35 Bag went up from £890 GBP to £940 GBP, a modest price jump of 5.6%. While the medium-sized Classic Flap bag from Chanel skyrocketed from £3630 in October to £3990.

Europe still remains your best bet
The prices in Europe remain significantly lower when you compare them to Asia and the United States, especially when it comes to Chanel and Louis Vuitton. And who wouldn't love a trip to Paris to do some serious designer shopping?
