The top 3 hidden hotels

12 July 2015

Although I love everything hip and flashy I can also really enjoy hidden hotels with picturesque terraces, blooming mimosa trees and very little rooms. For the getaways where you don’t need to wear you high heels, but you just wonder around old markets and sipping lattes overlooking wine estates. To celebrate the start of the summer holiday hereby my top 3:

Don’t let the unpronounceable name fool you. Quinta Da Cebola Vermelha is everything bút complicated. Perfectly located in the Algarve area and close to a lot of secret beaches and awesome fish restaurants (like Evaristo) this is home away from home. The hotel looks very lovely and is traditionally styled. The charming owners present the most delicious breakfast on the terrace overlooking the garden and pool. Lunch and dinner upon request. Think: orange orchards, crispy blue swimming pool and a holiday feeling at large.

Only an hour away from Barcelona, in the middle of the Cava area there’s a green oasis called Mas Xipres. And “Mas” it is! Very mas nature and tranquility. Time stood still in this classical former wine estate, but the owners gave it just a little extra (like the very large pool) to make this the ultimate relaxing/ read books/ drink wine holiday destination. This place needs an accordion for introduction because it cannot get more French then this. A white plastered house with grey/ lavender colored shutters on a square with a fountain in the middle. Hotel des Deux Rocs offers rooms that look like princess suites from a few centuries ago. Overlooking the terrace you feel very royal to.
