Since Hedi Slimane was named as Creative Director at fashion label Céline in January, there hasn’t been much indication of what his new vision of the brand will look like. Slimane is famously private about his work and most designers wouldn’t spoil a big fashion week reveal. But, surprisingly, Slimane gave a bag designed by him for Céline to Lady Gaga as a sneak peak.

On Sunday, September 2, 2018, Slimane gave the fashion lovers a new sneak peak. The brand Céline will now be read as simply Celine, thanks to a brand new logo.

Hedi Slimane was born on the 5th of july 1968 in Paris and was raised by his Tunisian father and Italian mother. At the age of 16, he started making his own clothes. After studying Art History at the École du Louvre and completing a tailor apprenticeship at a Men’s Designer House, he became a photographer and a designer. One of his first big jobs was assisting fashion consultant Jean-Jacques Picart on the ‘monogram canvas’ project of Louis Vuitton.

Hedi Slimane worked for several big designers. He worked as ready-to-wear director for Yves Saint Laurent for a couple of years. He rejected the offer of creative directorship at Jil Sander and accepted the job as creative director of menswear at Christian Dior. In march 2012, Hedi returned to Yves Saint Laurent and replaced Stefano Pilati as creative director. And now, he has been appointed as the new creative director of Celine. Last week, he had his first Fashion show as the new creative director. And according to last week’s runway show, it’s a whole new Celine. With a men’s collection led by Slimane.

He got a lot of savage reviews and negative attention. Some people said: ‘’The new Celine is the old Saint Laurent’’. But, this was only the first show, so we are really curious about Hedi’s new website and his new items!
